Follow up on last movie “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest ”
Not a very big attendance for our first movie of the year, only 7 members.
There is not a lot I can say about it as I was away as well and missed the movie. I really wanted to see it again particularly in today’s time with mental health having been in the news a lot over the last 12 months.
The few members I talked to who were there on the night did enjoy the film again.
We had a committee meting last week and are starting to look at films for the second half of the year, will keep you posted here on any future news about it.
Our next film on the 6th of February is the 2010 Biog/ Drama/ Romance
(UK/US/Kenya) “The First Grader” directed by J Chadwick. .
When the Kenyan Government introduces free education for all, Kimani Maruge, an 84 year old village elder and Mau Mau veteran, sees the opportunity to have the education he has so long been denied, even if it means sitting alongside 6 year olds. Having fought and suffered to liberate his country, Maruge feels his country owes him. Together with head teacher Jane Obinchu, he faces fierce opposition from parents and officials reluctant to see a precious school place wasted on an old man. Full of vitality and humour, The First Grader tells the uplifting story of one man’s struggle to overcome the demons of his past through the power of education. Based on a true story.
Looking forward to see you all on Tuesday the 6th of February
