Follow up on last movie “Monsieur Mayonnaise”
We had a good attendance and we also would like to welcome the 4 new members that joined on the night.
The movie itself was a resounding success, everyone I talked to mentioned how much they enjoyed all the different aspect of it from history to art. One member mentioned that it was his favorite film so far this year.
It was also our AGM, and there have been a couple of changes on our committee. Our secretary Pamela Carmody has been replaced by Anele Carey (on the committee already), thank you Pamela for all the work in the past few years. We also welcome Heather Curtis as Vice President and helper with catering together with Anele. All the other positions remain the same. If you need to contact anyone of us check the contact page on the website for phone numbers or email addresses.
The committee is also working hard on the next 6 month’s movies, some great titles coming up. As soon as they are finalized the trailers will be uploaded to the program page.
Our next film on the 6th of June is “La Dolce Vita” by Director Federico Fellini.
La Dolce Vita (Italian for “the sweet life” or “the good life”) is a 1960 Italian comedy-drama film directed and co-written by Federico Fellini. The film follows Marcello Rubini, a journalist writing for gossip magazines, over seven days and nights on his journey through the “sweet life” of Rome in a fruitless search for love and happiness.
La Dolce Vita won the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Costume Design and remains one of the most critically acclaimed films of all time.
It was widely censored, and not shown in Spain until 1981.
Rotten Tomatoes 97%
Looking forward to see you all on Tuesday the 6th of June
